ABOUT ASBESTOS
Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral made up of thin, fibrous crystals. It was widely used in construction and other industries due to its heat resistance, strength, and insulating properties.

ASBESTOS TYPES & PRESENCE
Asbestos can be present in various buildings constructed before the year 2000. Common locations include:
Ceiling Tiles, Insulation, Pipe Lagging, Roofing Materials, Floor Tiles and Textured Coatings (e.g., Artex)
- Chrysotile (White Asbestos): This type of asbestos was commonly used in building materials such as cement sheets, ceiling tiles, and roofing materials.
- Amosite (Brown Asbestos): Found in insulation products, ceiling tiles, and thermal insulation products.
- Crocidolite (Blue Asbestos): Used in spray-on coatings, pipe insulation, and cement products.
It’s estimated that 1.5 million buildings in the UK contain asbestos.
